The Michigan State University hockey team concluded its 2022-23 season with an overall record of 18 wins, 18 losses, and two ties. In the Big Ten Conference, the team secured a fifth-place finish with a record of 10-12-2. The team's head coach for this season was Adam Nightingale.

Throughout the season, the Spartans faced various opponents. Notable victories included a win against Ohio State on November 10th with a score of 4-2 and another triumph over Penn State on January 13th in overtime, ending at 3-2. However, they also experienced several defeats, such as losing to Minnesota on December 2nd with a score of 0-5.

In postseason play, Michigan State competed in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals against Notre Dame from March 3rd to March 5th. They won two out of three games in this series but were eventually defeated by Minnesota in the semifinals on March 11th with a final score of 1-5.

The roster for this season included players like Miroslav Mucha, Nicolas Müller, Jagger Joshua, Jon Mor, Pierce Charleson, Dylan St. Cyr, Cole Krygier, Christian Krygier, Erik Middendorf among others. The coaching staff comprised Assistant Coach Jared DeMichiel and Assistant Coach Mike Towns under Head Coach Adam Nightingale's leadership.

The team participated in several notable tournaments throughout the year including the Great Lakes Invitational held at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids and games at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
