The 2021-22 Michigan State Hockey Team, under the leadership of Head Coach Danton Cole, concluded their season with an overall record of 12-23-1 and a Big Ten conference record of 6-18-0, placing them seventh in the league standings.

The team roster included notable players such as Drew DeRidder, Josh Nodler, Mitchell Lewandowski, and Dennis Cesana. The coaching staff comprised Assistant Coach Joe Exter, Associate Head Coach Chris Luongo, and Director of Video & Analytics Dan Sturges. Other key personnel included Student Manager Sam Rozema and Athletic Trainer Andy Hosler.

Throughout the season, the Spartans had mixed results. They secured victories against teams like Air Force (5-1), Miami (3-1 and 2-1), and Wisconsin (3-2 and 5-2). However, they faced challenges against strong opponents such as Michigan and Minnesota.

In non-conference play, they participated in events like the Great Lakes Showcase at Munn Ice Arena. Despite some competitive performances, including an overtime win against Michigan Tech (3-2), they struggled to maintain consistency throughout the season.

The team's journey ended in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals with losses to Michigan in Ann Arbor. As the season wrapped up, it highlighted areas for improvement for future campaigns under Coach Cole's guidance.
