The Michigan State University hockey team concluded its 2017-18 season under the guidance of Head Coach Danton Cole. The team's overall record stood at 12 wins, 22 losses, and 2 ties, with a conference record in the Big Ten of 6 wins, 16 losses, and 2 ties, placing them seventh.

Throughout the season, MSU's performance included notable victories such as a win against Western Michigan with a score of 6-4 on October 20th and a shutout victory over Michigan on December 8th with a score of 5-0. However, the team faced challenges against higher-ranked opponents like Minnesota and Notre Dame.

Key personnel for the team included Assistant Coaches Chris Luongo and Joe Exter, Director of Hockey Operations Brad Fast, Sports Information Director Jeff Barnes, Athletic Trainer Dave Carrier, Strength & Conditioning Coach Mike Vorkapich, Team Physician Dr. Robert Norris, Volunteer Coach Jason Muzzatti, and Equipment Manager Tom Magee.
