Under the guidance of Head Coach Tom Anastos, the team achieved a Big Ten conference record of 11 wins, 7 losses, and 2 shootout wins, securing second place in the conference standings.
The roster featured notable players such as Jake Hildebrand, Justin Hoomaian, Ron Boyd, Brent Darnell, Michael Ferrantino, Matt Berry, Tanner Sorenson, Ed Minney, Travis Walsh, David Bondra, Brock Krygier, Thomas Ebbing, Joe Cox, JT Stenglein, Villaim Haag, Rhett Holland, Matt DeBlouw, John Draeger, Chris Knudson, Mackenzie MacEachern and Ryan Keller. The coaching staff included Assistant Coaches Tom Newton and Kelly Miller.
Throughout the season, MSU faced a variety of opponents both in and out of conference play. Despite some challenging matchups against teams like Boston University and Minnesota which resulted in losses by narrow margins or ties after overtime play with shootout outcomes like against Minnesota on December 6th (T OT 3-3 SOW), the Spartans demonstrated resilience throughout their schedule.
Their season ended after competing in the Big Ten Tournament held at Joe Louis Arena where they faced off against Michigan but were unable to secure a victory.
