The 2010-11 Michigan State University (MSU) hockey team concluded its season with an overall record of 15 wins, 19 losses, and 4 ties. Under the leadership of Head Coach Rick Comley, the team placed tenth in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) with a conference record of 11-15-2.
The roster included players such as Torey Krug, Trevor Nill, and Drew Palmisano. The coaching staff featured Associate Head Coach Brian Renfrew and Assistant Coach Tom Newton. The team also had support from Athletic Trainer Dave Carrier and Director of Hockey Operations Adam Nightingale.
Throughout the season, MSU faced various opponents including Western Ontario in an exhibition match which they lost 3-5. They tied against Maine on October 14th with a score of 2-2 after overtime but secured a win against them the following day with a score of 3-2. Notable victories included defeating Ferris State on December 3rd with a score of 3-2 and overcoming Michigan on January 7th in overtime with a score of 4-3.
Despite some successes, the team faced challenges throughout their schedule. Losses were recorded against teams like Notre Dame and Northern Michigan during their respective matches.
As part of their seasonal events, MSU participated in tournaments such as the Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena and played at notable venues like Michigan Stadium for "The Big Chill at the Big House."
The season concluded with participation in the CCHA Tournament where they were defeated by Alaska Fairbanks in both games held on March 4th and March 5th.
