The 2012-13 Michigan State University (MSU) hockey team, led by Head Coach Tom Anastos, concluded their season with an overall record of 14 wins, 25 losses, and 3 ties. In the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), they recorded 13 wins, 22 losses, and 1 tie, placing them in the 11th position.

Throughout the season, MSU faced various opponents both at home and away. The team started with a victory against Windsor in an exhibition match with a score of 6-1. However, they encountered challenges early on with back-to-back losses to Minnesota.

Notable victories during the season included a win against Niagara on October 19th and another significant win against Michigan on November 10th. The Spartans also managed to secure a victory over Ferris State on December 15th and later triumphed over Penn State on January 25th.

The team's performance was marked by several close games and overtime matches. They tied with Miami on November 16th and Western Michigan on December 29th during the Great Lakes Invitational held at Joe Louis Arena.

Despite some successes, MSU struggled against higher-ranked teams such as Notre Dame and Miami. Their journey in the CCHA Tournament ended after facing Miami again in March.

Coach Anastos's roster for this season included players like Lee Reimer, Kevin Walrod, Chris Forfar, Greg Wolfe, Anthony Hayes, Dean Chelios, Jake Chelios among others. The coaching staff comprised Assistant Coaches Kelly Miller and Tom Newton.

The team's management also involved Equipment Manager Tom Magee and Director of Hockey Operations Adam Nightingale. Athletic Trainer Dave Carrier provided support throughout the season alongside student managers Tim Magee, Jamie Daniels, and Dan Balough.
