The 2007-08 Michigan State hockey team, under the leadership of Head Coach Rick Comley, had a notable season. The team ended with an overall record of 25-12-5 and secured third place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) with a conference record of 19-6-3. Their efforts led them to become NCAA Regional Finalists.

Throughout the season, Michigan State achieved several significant victories. They began their campaign with a win against Windsor in an exhibition match, defeating them 6-0. Notable performances included victories over Colgate, Northern Michigan, and Mercyhurst. The Spartans also secured a crucial win against top-ranked Michigan on January 25, winning 1-0.

Despite some losses to teams like Miami and Notre Dame, the team managed to maintain strong performances throughout the season. In March, they advanced in the NCAA West Regional by beating Colorado College but were ultimately defeated by Notre Dame.

The roster for this memorable season included key players such as Justin Abdelkader, Tim Kennedy, Jeff Lerg, and Bryan Lerg. The coaching staff supporting Head Coach Rick Comley comprised Associate Head Coach Brian Renfrew and Assistant Coaches Tom Newton and Rob Woodward.

Michigan State's journey through the 2007-08 season was marked by both challenges and achievements as they competed at high levels within collegiate hockey circles.
