The 1999-2000 Michigan State University (MSU) hockey team, under the guidance of Head Coach Ron Mason, achieved significant milestones in their season. They were crowned champions of both the Great Lakes Invitational and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) playoffs. Additionally, they participated in the NCAA Tournament, marking a successful year for the team.

The team's overall record stood at 27 wins, 11 losses, and 4 ties, with a conference record of 18-8-2, placing them second in the CCHA standings. Their performance included notable victories such as an 11-1 win against Guelph in an exhibition match and a strong showing at home against Ohio State with scores of 1-0 and 6-0.

Assistant coaches David McAuliffe and Tom Newton supported Head Coach Mason throughout the season. The roster featured players like Shawn Horcoff, Rustyn Dolyny, Mike Weaver, Ryan Miller, John-Michael Liles, and many others who contributed to the team's success on the ice.

Their journey saw challenges as well; they faced tough opponents such as Colorado College and Boston College. Despite these hurdles, MSU's resilience was evident in their decisive victories over teams like Nebraska-Omaha and Northern Michigan during crucial matches.

Overall, the season highlighted MSU's strength and competitive spirit within college hockey circles.
