The 1991-92 Michigan State Hockey Team had a remarkable season, reaching the NCAA Final Four under the guidance of Head Coach Ron Mason. The team ended the season with an overall record of 26 wins, 10 losses, and 8 ties, and a Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) record of 18 wins, 7 losses, and 8 ties, securing third place in the conference.

The team's journey throughout the season included significant victories and some challenging games. They began their campaign on October 25 with a win against Michigan and continued to demonstrate their skills with notable performances such as a win over Boston University in the NCAA West Regional on March 26.

Key members of the team included Assistant Coaches Tom Newton, Tom Anastos, and Carl Repp. The roster featured players like Dwayne Norris, Joby Messier, Peter White, Bryan Smolinski, and Mike Buzak among others. The support staff comprised Trainer Dave Carrier and Equipment Manager Tom Magee.

As they progressed through various tournaments including the Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena and CCHA Tournament matches also held at Joe Louis Arena, they showcased resilience against teams like Lake Superior State and Miami. Their efforts culminated in reaching the Frozen Four stage in Albany after overcoming Maine on March 28 during the NCAA West Regional.

Despite their strong performance throughout the season leading up to April's NCAA Frozen Four matchups where they faced Lake Superior State once more but fell short with a score of 2-4. This marked an end to their impressive run that year but left a legacy for future Spartan hockey teams to aspire towards.
