The 1984-85 Michigan State hockey team achieved significant success during their season, capturing multiple titles and boasting an impressive record. Under the leadership of Head Coach Ron Mason, the team finished with an overall record of 38 wins, 6 losses, and no ties. In the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), they secured a first-place finish with a conference record of 27-5-0.

Throughout the season, Michigan State emerged victorious in several tournaments. They were crowned champions in both the CCHA Regular Season and Playoff as well as winning the Great Lakes Invitational. The team's performance in these competitions highlighted their dominance on the ice.

Key figures in this successful campaign included Assistant Coaches Terry Christensen and George Gwozdecky, along with players such as Tom Anastos, Kelly Miller, and Dan McFall. Their contributions were instrumental in achieving the team's outstanding results.

In addition to their tournament victories, Michigan State had notable wins against various opponents throughout their schedule. Some highlights include triumphs over Ohio State, Western Michigan, Miami University, Ferris State, and Bowling Green.

The team's journey also took them to NCAA Regionals held in East Lansing where they faced Providence College. Despite a strong showing with a win on March 23rd by a score of 3-2, they fell short on March 24th with a loss of 2-4.

Michigan State's accomplishments during this season are remembered for showcasing their competitive spirit and skillful play under Coach Mason's guidance.
