Michigan State University's junior golfer, Ashton McCulloch, has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) with a selection to the All-Midwest Region Team. This marks the second time McCulloch has received this honor, having previously been selected in the 2021-22 season when he was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

This year, McCulloch earned an All-Big Ten Second Team selection and was Michigan State's top finisher in nine events. He maintained a scoring average of 70.89 over 36 rounds, surpassing the previous record of 71.33 set by James Piot in 2021.

McCulloch's consistent performance has placed him at the top of Michigan State's career leaders for scoring average. With a minimum of 50 rounds played, he now holds an all-time average score of 71.74, bettering Piot's mark of 71.99 from his tenure between 2017 and 2022.

In his three years at Michigan State, McCulloch has recorded some of the best single-season scores in school history. His current season average of 70.89 is ranked first; his freshman year average of 71.89 ranks eighth; and his sophomore year average of 72.46 ranks eleventh.

Throughout this year's competitions, McCulloch finished among the top five four times, top ten six times, and top twenty eight times out of thirteen events. Notably, he contributed to nearly every team total with his rounds counting for approximately 98.6 percent.

During March's Johnnie-O at Sea Island event, McCulloch shared medalist honors by setting a program record with a low round score of ten-under-par 62 and finishing with a twelve-under-par total score across three rounds.

McCulloch also achieved significant success in postseason play by tying for third place at the Big Ten Championships and earning All-Tournament team recognition. At the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, he tied for thirtieth place while helping lead Michigan State to its seventh regional appearance in eight years.
