Michigan State Athletics, in collaboration with PNC Bank, has announced the PNC Achievers Student-Athletes of the Month for April. This recognition highlights Spartan student-athletes who excel in academics, community service, and sports. The honorees for this month are senior wrestler Jordan Hamdan and sophomore track and field athlete Ian Thompson.

Jordan Hamdan served as Michigan State University's starter at 141 pounds during the wrestling season, achieving a 21-14 overall record. His performance included an 11-5 mark in dual meets and a fifth-place finish at the Midlands Championships. He also qualified for his second consecutive NCAA Championships appearance. Academically, Hamdan graduated with a degree in Human Capital and Society and a minor in Leadership of Organizations, maintaining a 3.45 GPA. He was recognized as an NWCA Scholar All-American and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. Beyond his academic and athletic commitments, he volunteered at events such as the MSU Madness Trick-or-Treat and the Salvation Army Toy Distribution.

"Jordan is a highly talented, team-focused individual who put in the 'unrequired' hours on and off the mat to be at his best in school and wrestling," stated Jeremy Flynn, Associate Director of SASS.

Ian Thompson distinguished himself as a sprinter during the indoor track season by achieving a personal best time of 6.75 seconds in the 60-meter dash at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite. He earned silver at the Wolverine Invite after posting the fastest preliminary time. In outdoor competitions, Thompson contributed to Michigan State's third-place finish in the 4x100m relay at James Madison University Invitational.

Thompson maintains a 3.71 GPA as a finance major while actively participating as an at-large member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He co-founded the Student-Athlete Kindness Committee and engaged in various community activities including Teams for Toys wrapping party, student-athlete food drive, MSU Madness Trick-or-Treat event, Suicide Awareness Pin Distribution event, and "Spartan Sunday."

"Ian goes above and beyond in his commitment to giving back to the campus and greater community," said Brianne Wojciakowski, Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development.
