Michigan State's softball team is set to wrap up its regular season with a series against Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana. The games are scheduled for May 4-6 and will be available for live streaming on B1G+. Michigan State remains in the hunt for a spot in the 2024 B1G Tournament, trailing Maryland by one game for the final seed.

Purdue enters the weekend with a 25-23 overall record and an 11-9 mark in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers have already secured their place in the tournament, marking their second appearance in three seasons. Currently ranked No. 77 in the NCAA RPI rankings, Purdue ranks highly in stolen bases nationally.

The Spartans come into this weekend after a dominant performance against Oakland, winning by run rule with an 11-0 scoreline. Senior Liv Grey led from the circle, striking out eight batters over four innings without allowing any walks.

Michigan State has shown notable power this season, hitting 47 home runs across 48 games—the most since their record-setting 2017 season. Sophomores Britain Beshears and Hannah Hawley have each hit double-digit home runs this year, becoming the first Spartan duo to achieve this since 2017.

The Spartans are fighting for a spot in the B1G Tournament alongside Illinois, Maryland, and Iowa. With conference records of #11 Illinois at 6-13 and #12 Maryland at 5-15, MSU ties with Iowa at 4-16 as they look to clinch a tournament berth hosted by Iowa from May 8-11.
