The roster included players such as Dave Versical, Brendon Moroney, Darl Bolton, Daryl Rice, John Sturges, Steve Colp, Tom Ross, Greg Maas in the front row; Mark DeCenzo, Joe Campbell among others in the middle row; and Marty McLaughlin and Ken Brothers in the back row. The coaching staff comprised Assistant Coach Alex Terpay and Graduate Assistant Coach Bill Sipola.

Throughout the season, Michigan State faced various opponents including Ohio State on October 24th and 25th where they secured a win (4-2) and tied (6-6) respectively. They also played against Notre Dame multiple times achieving victories on both occasions on October 31st (6-2) and November 1st (3-2).

In addition to regular-season games, Michigan State participated in the WCHA Playoffs where they defeated Wisconsin twice on March 10th and March 11th with identical scores of 6-4. However, their playoff run concluded with a loss to Minnesota after three overtimes on March 14th.

Head Coach Amo Bessone guided his team through a competitive schedule that included matchups against top-ranked teams like Michigan Tech and Minnesota. Despite facing challenges throughout the season including losses to teams like Harvard in early January (6-8; 3-4), the Spartans showcased resilience by ending their campaign with significant wins.
