Michigan State hockey team concludes challenging season under coach Amo Bessone

The 1954-55 Michigan State University hockey team, led by Head Coach Amo Bessone, completed their season with a record of 9 wins, 17 losses, and 1 tie. The team played in the Western Intercollegiate Hockey League (WIHL), finishing with a conference record of 5 wins, 14 losses, and 1 tie.

Throughout the season, the team faced a range of opponents. They started with a loss against Rensselaer on November 6th and went on to face various teams including North Dakota, Denver, Colorado College, Michigan Tech, and others. Notable victories included a win against St. Lawrence on November 29th with a score of 5-4 and two wins against Ontario Agricultural College in March.

The roster featured players such as Ron Svedeen, Stan Dubois, Larry Cooper, Weldon Olsen, Derio Nicoli among others. Key staff included Manager Rob Roy and Head Coach Amo Bessone.

Despite facing challenges throughout the season with several losses against strong teams like Michigan and Minnesota, the Spartans managed to secure some memorable victories which highlighted their competitive spirit.
