The 1955-56 Michigan State hockey team, led by Head Coach Amo Bessone, concluded their season with an overall record of 5 wins and 18 losses. Within the Western Intercollegiate Hockey League (WIHL), they secured a single victory against 17 defeats, placing them seventh in the league standings.

Throughout the season, the team experienced a series of challenging matches. They started on a positive note with a win against St. Lawrence on November 24 but faced subsequent losses to teams such as Clarkson and North Dakota. Despite these setbacks, they managed to achieve victories over Middlebury and Denver.

The roster included players like Aldo Altobelli, Ross Parke, Bert Pomerleau, Stan Dubois, Karl Jackson, Bill MacKenzie, Dave Hendrickson, Eddie Schiller in the front row; and Manager Dave Green, Butch Miller, Ken James, John Zimmerman, Arthur Barker, Gordie Lassila, Joe Balai, Eugene Grazia, Robert Jasson along with Manager Don Peterson in the back row.

Notable games during the season included matchups against Michigan Tech and Minnesota where several games extended into overtime but ultimately resulted in losses for Michigan State. The team ended their season with consecutive wins against Ontario Agricultural College.

Coach Bessone's leadership was evident throughout this challenging season as he guided his players through numerous competitive encounters.
