Michigan State men's soccer prepares for challenging road match against Indiana

Michigan State's men's soccer team is set to face Indiana on the road at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Friday, October 19. The match will begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on B1G+ with Ben Haller and Cruz Martin providing commentary.

The Spartans, who recently improved their record to 5-5-2 overall and 4-2-0 in Big Ten play following a victory over then-ranked No. 25 Wisconsin, are looking forward to this matchup against Indiana. Indiana has a current season record of 6-3-5 and stands at 4-1-2 in the league after defeating No. 18 Michigan with a decisive score of 5-0.

Senior midfielder Sean Kerrigan was instrumental in Michigan State's recent success, scoring twice against Wisconsin. "Kerrigan is now second on the team in scoring with three goals," noted the press release, highlighting his performance as crucial for the Spartans' win.

Jonathan Stout, a junior midfielder, leads the Spartans in scoring with four goals and two assists this season. He has been consistent across his college career at Michigan State.

Indiana holds an advantage in historical matchups between these teams, leading the series overall with a record of 43-17-7 against Michigan State. The last encounter between these teams ended in a double-overtime tie.

"Redshirt-junior goalkeeper Zac Kelly has earned five shutouts this season," which includes four clean sheets within conference play. His efforts have contributed significantly to Michigan State's defensive strength.

As for Indiana, Tommy Mihalic ranks third in points scored within the Big Ten this season with eight goals and one assist to his name. Meanwhile, Quinton Elliot and Samuel Sarver are tied as top scorers for Indiana during league matches.

After their game against Indiana, Michigan State will return home to host Michigan on Tuesday, October 22.
