Spartan athletics prepares for busy week with multiple home games

Michigan State University Athletics is preparing for a busy week, featuring events across various sports. Former Spartan men's basketball All-American Sam Vincent will serve as the grand marshal for this year's Homecoming Parade. The parade will commence at 6 p.m. on Friday in downtown East Lansing and the MSU campus.

The Spartans football team is set to host Iowa in their 108th Homecoming game on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., broadcasted by NBC. Historically, Michigan State holds a record of 70-34-3 in Homecoming games.

In volleyball, Michigan State will face No. 2 Nebraska on Friday night, with a special Rally Row Night encouraging student attendance. Sunday's match against Washington marks Breast Cancer Awareness Day, where fans can donate items for complimentary admission.

Men's soccer has crucial upcoming matches, including an away game against Indiana and a home match against No. 18 Michigan on October 22nd, celebrating the Battle for the Big Bear Trophy's 25th anniversary. Senior midfielder Sean Kerrigan was recently recognized for his performance against Wisconsin.

Cross country teams will compete in Madison, Wisconsin at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals and also participate in an event in Bowling Green this weekend as part of their postseason preparations.

Men's tennis players will participate in the M15 Norman tournament after Ozan Baris won the singles title at the ITA Men's Midwest Regional Championships.

Women's soccer returns home to host Wisconsin and Northwestern this week, offering special promotions for faculty and season ticket members during these matches.

Ice hockey faces Windsor in an exhibition contest following a recent split series with Boston College. Junior forward Charlie Stramel earned recognition as the Big Ten Third Star of the Week for his performance.

Finally, field hockey heads east for games against Rutgers and Penn State after securing a win over Central Michigan last weekend.
