Michigan State University's men's golf team is set to participate in the Fighting Irish Classic, marking their fourth event of the Fall season. The tournament will take place on October 6 and 7 at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course, a par-70 course stretching over 7,023 yards.

The competition will feature 15 teams playing 36 holes on Sunday and concluding with 18 holes on Monday. Michigan State will start at 8:30 a.m., alongside host Notre Dame and Tennessee.

The lineup for Michigan State includes Ashton McCulloch, Caleb Bond, Lorenzo Pinili, Julian Menser, and Juan Velasquez. The Warren Golf Course has been recognized as one of America's top courses by publications such as Golf Digest and Links Magazine. It was also the venue for the 2019 U.S. Senior Open.

Historically, Michigan State has won the Fighting Irish Classic three times since its inception 16 years ago. Their victories came in 2007, 2012, and most recently in 2014. Individually, Ryan Brehm and Randy Hutchinson have claimed medalist honors in past tournaments.

This year's field features eight teams that finished last year ranked among the nation's top-50. New Big Ten members Washington and UCLA are part of this group. Other participating teams include Duke, Little Rock, Rutgers, Kent State, Indiana, Iowa, Georgia Southern, Augusta, Purdue, Louisville, Notre Dame itself among others.

In their last outing at the Windon Memorial Classic hosted by Northwestern at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest Illinois Michigan State finished in 16th place overall with freshman Juan Velasquez tying for 59th individually.

Reflecting on recent performances Head Coach Lubahn stated "We had a rough go of it last time out and I think the guys are eager to get back out there and show what we can do... This is a great event and we've had success here in the past so I'm eager to see how we respond."
