Michigan State graduate goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks has been named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week, according to an announcement by the conference on Tuesday.
Parks received her first career Big Ten weekly honor and became the first MSU player to earn this accolade since Lauren Kozal on October 25, 2022. She is also the second Spartan to win a player of the week award from the conference this season, following Justina Gaynor's Defensive Player of the Week selection on August 20.
A native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Parks played a key role in Michigan State's two Big Ten victories last week. The Spartans defeated Nebraska 4-1 at home on September 19 and secured a 1-0 shutout against then-No. 9 Penn State on September 22. In the match against Nebraska, Parks made one save in 90 minutes. Against Penn State, she stopped a career-high 11 shots to achieve her fourth clean sheet of the season. Notably, only Michigan State and Georgetown have managed to hold Penn State scoreless this season in their 11 games.
This season, Parks maintains a goals-against average of 0.75 and has made a total of 31 saves.
The Spartans will next play on Thursday, September 26 at Ohio State with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m., available for streaming on B1G+.
