Michigan State University concluded the Canadian Collegiate Invitational with a fifth-place finish among ten teams, recording a 6-under par 282 in the final round at Oviibyrd Golf Club in Foots Bay, Ontario. This tournament marked the first NCAA Division I men's golf event held in Canada and included teams with significant Canadian connections alongside the champions of the 2024 Canadian University/College Championship.

The Spartans completed the two-day, 54-hole tournament at 6-under par 858 (289-287-282). Notre Dame emerged victorious with a score of 17-under par 847 (285-280-282), finishing five strokes ahead of Missouri and Michigan, both tied for second place at 12-under par 852 (281-273-298). Kent State secured fourth place at 11-under par 853.

Senior Ashton McCulloch led Michigan State, finishing third individually with an impressive score of 11-under par 205 (69-68-68). McCulloch's performance included five birdies in his final round and earned him an exemption into the 2025 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship. His score ties for the ninth-lowest in Michigan State history and is just one shot shy of his career-best collegiate mark set earlier this year.

Junior Caleb Bond also contributed significantly, tying for eleventh place at 5-under par 211 (72-68-71) after shooting a final-round score of 1-under par 71. Freshman Joe Canitano finished tied for thirtieth place at even-par on Tuesday and recorded a total score of 5-over par 221 (73-76-72) in his first collegiate event.

Other notable performances include freshman Julian Menser’s best round on Wednesday with a score of 1-under par, tying for thirty-fourth place at eight-over-par overall. Sophomore Lorenzo Pinili tied for forty-third place with a total score of fifteen-over-par. Freshman Drew Miller, playing as an individual, finished tied for forty-sixth place.

Following consecutive events to start their season, Michigan State will next compete in the Windon Memorial at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois on September twenty-ninth and thirtieth.
