Grand Haven, Mich. – Senior Brooke Biermann fired a 1-under par 69 and is tied for fifth place individually, while Michigan State's women's golf team stands in 10th place among 15 teams after the first day of play at the inaugural women's Folds of Honor Collegiate, being held at American Dunes.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament continues with Arizona leading the field at 1-over par 289. Ohio State follows in second place at 2-over par 290, Texas holds third place at 3-over par 291, Florida State is fourth at 5-over par 293, and Baylor rounds out the top five teams at 12-over par 300. The Spartans are just five shots away from the top five, standing in tenth place at 17-over par 305.
Junior Brooke Biermann is tied for fifth place individually with a score of 1-under par. Junior Taylor Kehoe is tied for thirty-sixth place at 5-over par, while sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia is tied for forty-first place at six over-par. Senior Katie Lu is tied for forty-seventh place with a score of seven over-par and sophomore Paula Balanzategui shot ten over-par to tie for sixty-ninth place.
Michigan State will tee off on Tuesday at 1:12 p.m. from the first hole, playing alongside Texas and Notre Dame.
