Michigan State Athletics has announced the hiring of Alex Perry as Executive Senior Associate AD, Chief Business Officer. In this role, Perry will oversee business operations and manage the financial strategy for the athletic department, including long-range planning and analytics.

"We're excited to welcome Alex Perry to our leadership team," said Michigan State Vice President and Director of Athletics Alan Haller. "He quickly emerged as our top candidate from an extensive search that featured a wide array of candidates from a diverse set of backgrounds. He has a wide breadth of experience, including currently sitting as the chief financial officer at Ball State. Alex's strategic leadership will benefit our current executive team as we continue to plan for the future in a constantly evolving college athletics landscape."

Perry comes to Michigan State from Ball State University, where he has worked since February 2022, including serving as Deputy Director of Athletics since January 2024. In Muncie, Perry provided effective leadership in all aspects of the athletic department's financial and business functions, including development and oversight of the department's budget. He served as the athletic department liaison with University leadership on budgeting, financial forecasting, capital expense planning, and internal audit processes. Additionally, he led revenue generation with oversight for the external areas of marketing, ticket operations and Ball State Sports Properties. He also provided leadership in areas beyond finance, including serving as the sport supervisor for football, women's basketball, women's soccer, men's tennis, and women's tennis.

"I am incredibly grateful to Alan Haller and the search committee for entrusting me with this opportunity," said Perry. "Michigan State is poised to lead during a transformational time for intercollegiate athletics and I look forward to serving our talented student-athletes, coaches, and staff as we work together to build on the rich history and tradition of Spartan Athletics. My family and I are excited to be Spartans and can't wait to join the East Lansing community. Go Green!"

Perry brings 12 years of experience in higher education and athletic administration to East Lansing. Prior to his stint at Ball State, he spent nine and a half years at Butler University, holding the title of Associate AD for Internal Operations at the time of his departure.

A former Division I student-athlete, Perry played football at Indiana University where he earned two degrees: a bachelor's degree in public affairs and a master's degree in kinesiology. Additionally, he earned his MBA from Butler University School of Business.

He and his wife Danielle are parents to Grace, Olivia, and Jack.
