The Big Ten Conference and the Chicago Cubs announced plans to host two college hockey doubleheaders at Wrigley Field in January 2025. The event, titled "The Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series," will feature several prominent matchups.
Michigan State, the defending Big Ten regular-season and tournament champions, will face Wisconsin on Saturday, Jan. 4. The same day will also see a rematch of the last two women's hockey NCAA Championship games between Ohio State and Wisconsin. The Friday doubleheader will include men's Big Ten games featuring Ohio State vs. Michigan and Notre Dame vs. Penn State.
This weekend of college hockey follows the Discover NHL Winter Classic® between the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks on December 31, 2024, marking the second NHL Winter Classic held at Wrigley Field.
All four games will be broadcast live by the Big Ten Network. Start times are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. CT on January 3, and for 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. CT on January 4.
Tickets for "The Frozen Confines" go on sale to the general public on Friday, August 30, at 10 a.m. CT via Cubs.com/BigTenHockey. Presale information will be provided by the Spartan ticket office and Spartan Fund for MSU season ticket members.
