The Michigan State football team conducted its sixth practice of preseason camp and first in full pads on Monday at the Greg and Dawn Williams Indoor Practice Facility.

Following the practice, MSU head coach Jonathan Smith, along with linebackers Jordan Hall, Wayne Matthews III, and Jordan Turner, addressed the media to provide an update on the team's progress.

"First day in full pads today – I was really pleased with the physicality," said Smith. "We actually did some live tackling, a limited amount, but I thought it was good for the guys to continue to progress and play."

Smith noted that despite some imperfections, he is satisfied with the team's effort. "They're working hard. A week into it, I'm pleased with the effort and the attention to detail. We're throwing a lot at them. It's not flawless or perfect in any way, but I do appreciate the effort these guys are giving and battling each other, day in and day out."

The Spartans will return to practice on Tuesday morning as they prepare for their season opener against Florida Atlantic on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. in Spartan Stadium.
