Michigan State head women's golf coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll will be one of six women's golf standouts inducted into the Michigan Women's Golf Association (MWGA) Hall of Fame. The ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Hellenic Cultural Center in Westland, Mich.

The MWGA Hall of Fame, which began with an inaugural class in 2016, has held ceremonies in 2017, 2019, and 2022. The Class of 2024 will bring the total number of inductees to 29 members.

Slobodnik-Stoll will join Jane Kersjes, Sue Madej, Jean Murray, Karen Peek, and Terri Anthony Ryan in this year's Hall of Fame class.

This marks the third Hall of Fame honor for Slobodnik-Stoll. She was inducted into both the Women's Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in 2017. She joins previous Spartans Mary Fossum (2002), Joyce Kazmierski (2003), Joan Garety (2005), and Sue Ertl (2010) in the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.

During her 27 seasons as head coach, Slobodnik-Stoll has led the Spartans to numerous achievements: 24 NCAA Regional appearances, 14 trips to the NCAA Championships, and eight Big Ten titles. Under her guidance, Michigan State has won 44 tournaments including their first-ever NCAA Regional win at the Palm Beach Regional in 2023.

Slobodnik-Stoll is a five-time Big Ten Coach of the Year (2001, 2007, 2012, 2017, and 2018) and was named Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 1999.

Her players have earned All-Big Ten honors on numerous occasions—59 times over her tenure—including 37 first-team selections. Five players have been named Big Ten Golfer of the Year while four have claimed Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.

Nine Spartans have garnered All-American accolades under Slobodnik-Stoll's leadership. Rising senior Katie Lu was an honorable mention selection this year.

Academically, Slobodnik-Stoll's teams have also excelled. From 2012-19 they boasted the highest GPA among all MSU athletic programs for eight consecutive years. In addition to winning the Athletic Director's Award for academic excellence for an unprecedented eleventh time in 2024 with a cumulative GPA of 3.856—the second-highest ever recorded by any team within MSU’s Athletic Department—they achieved a record GPA mark last year at 3.858.

Slobodnik-Stoll continues to compete actively herself; she holds more Golf Association of Michigan championships than anyone else with eleven titles including two Michigan Women's Amateur championships (1996 and 1998). In summer of last year she made it to round sixteen at U.S Senior Women’s Amateur held Alaska while winning GAM Women’s Senior Championship same season

The induction ceremony begins at approximately10:30 am followed by brunch scheduled11 am concluding official program starting noon For further details about event please visit www.mwgolf.org navigate through Events section
