Former Michigan State guard Shay Colley has been named to the Canadian women's basketball team set to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This marks Colley's second Olympic appearance, having previously represented Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Team Canada secured its fourth consecutive Olympic qualification by finishing third in one of four FIBA Women's Olympic Qualification Tournaments last February. The Paris Games will be Team Canada's eighth participation in the Olympic women's basketball tournament since its debut at Montreal 1976. Notably, it will be the first time in 24 years (since Sydney 2000) that both Canada's women's and men's basketball teams will compete at the same Olympic Games.
Colley played three seasons at Michigan State, with her final season during the 2019-20 campaign. During her tenure as a Spartan, she averaged 12.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
The women's basketball tournament is scheduled from July 27 to August 11. Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille will host the preliminary phase before the final games move to Paris and Bercy Arena. Canada's first game is set for July 29 against host France.
