Big Ten recognizes over two thousand academic achievers in spring sports

The Big Ten Conference has recognized 2,271 student-athletes, including 190 from Michigan State University (MSU), on the Academic All-Big Ten Team for spring sports. This announcement was made on Wednesday.

The MSU Women's Gymnastics team, which won the Big Ten regular season championship, led the league with 18 honorees. The Wrestling team tied for the most all-academic honorees in the conference with 20 this winter, while Men's Basketball had eight honorees, tying for second place.

The Spartan baseball team led the league with 19 honorees. The MSU men's track and field team also had the highest number of recognitions in the conference with 39 student-athletes acknowledged. Similarly, Spartan women's track and field topped the league with 46 honorees. Michigan State men's tennis shared the league lead with eight student-athletes earning recognition, and women's golf tied for first place in the conference with seven honorees. Additionally, Spartan rowing was second with 44 honorees, and Michigan State women's tennis was second with seven student-athletes recognized.

MSU's women's track and field had nine student-athletes who achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs. The men's track and field team had four students achieving this academic milestone. Three rowers from MSU also maintained perfect GPAs, along with one each from baseball, women's golf, and softball teams.

Out of the 115 spring honorees across all institutions who achieved a perfect GPA of 4.0, nineteen were from Michigan State's spring sports teams:

- Tyler Pritchett (Men's Track & Field), Applied Engineering Science

- Connor Williamson (Men's Track & Field), Finance

- Natalie Blake (Women's Track & Field), Human Biology

- Madison Foster (Women's Track & Field), Biochemistry & Molecular Biology

- Abbey Lee (Women's Track & Field), Global Health

- Sophia Lucki (Women's Track & Field), Human Biology

- Grace Molloy (Women's Track & Field), Financial Planning & Wealth Management

- Kate Osika (Women's Track & Field), Communication
