Michigan State's Katie Lu Earns Academic All-District Honors

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State rising senior women's golfer Katie Lu has been selected to the Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators.

Lu, a finance major with a 3.931 grade-point average, met the criteria for the Academic All-District team, which requires nominees to be at least sophomores with a year in residence at their current school, maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher, and be either starters or significant reserves.

An All-Big Ten Conference First Team selection, Lu was the team's top finisher seven times last season as the Spartans won one team event, posted three runner-up finishes, and placed among the top-five in eight different tournaments.

Lu posted personal best numbers that rank among the best in program history. She led the team in scoring last season with an average of 71.54, a career-best mark that ranks No. 2 all-time for a single season at Michigan State, just behind Sarah Burnham's record of 70.68 set in 2017-18.

Entering her senior year in 2024-25, Lu is ranked No. 4 all-time at Michigan State with a 73.55 scoring average.

Lu won two events last season: she shot a 3-under par 213 to win the Mary Fossum Invitational on Sept. 18 and carded a 5-under par 211 to share medalist honors with classmate Brooke Biermann at the Briar's Creek event on March 12. Lu is one of only twelve MSU players to win two events in one season and was the first since Burnham achieved this feat in 2015-16.

Throughout the season, Lu finished among the top-5 in four events, the top-10 seven times, and the top-20 eleven times out of thirteen events played.
