East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State wrestling redshirt freshman Kael Wisler has earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the organization. Wisler is the first Spartan grappler since Cameron Caffey in 2019 to earn the distinction.
Requirements for nomination include being at least a sophomore academically and a year in residence at the student-athlete's current school, maintaining a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and being a starter or significant reserve.
A civil engineering major boasting a 3.78 GPA, Wisler previously earned Academic All-B1G honors this past season and was one of six Spartans named a National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American. As a team, Michigan State wrestling earned the NWCA Academic Team Award with a 3.43 cumulative team GPA, which ranked No. 16 nationally among all NCAA DI wrestling programs.
On the mat, Wisler made the most of his debut season in the starting lineup finishing 26-14 with a 9-5 record in dual meets. A native of New Boston, Mich., Wisler's 26 victories tied for the team-high, going 4-0 to claim the title at Army's Black Knight Invite in November.
