Six Spartans to compete across multiple events at upcoming Olympic trials

Six athletes from Michigan State University are set to compete in the upcoming Olympic Trials. These trials will determine who will represent their respective countries in the forthcoming Olympic Games.

Tori Franklin, hailing from Chicago, Illinois, will participate in the triple jump. Franklin aims to make her second Olympic team after finishing 25th in the 2020 Tokyo Games. She earned a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships and holds both indoor and outdoor school records for Michigan State in the triple jump. Additionally, she is a three-time Big Ten Champion.

Morgan Beadlescomb from Algonac, Michigan, will compete in the 5000 meters event. This marks his second U.S. Olympic Trials appearance. Beadlescomb was named USATF Athlete of the Week in December 2023 following his victory at the Manchester Road Race. He is a three-time Big Ten Champion and seven-time track & field All-American and holds Michigan State's school records for both indoor and outdoor 5000 meters.

Heath Baldwin of Kalamazoo, Michigan, will compete in his first U.S. Olympic Trials in the decathlon. Baldwin is a Big Ten Champion in the heptathlon (2023) and holds Michigan State records for both heptathlon and decathlon events.

Ryan Talbot from Alto, Michigan, also competing in his first U.S. Olympic Trials, will join Baldwin in the decathlon event. Talbot is a two-time Big Ten Champion (2022 and 2024) and has been named an outdoor All-American three times.

Trevor Stephenson of Caledonia, Michigan, is set to compete in his first U.S. Olympic Trials for pole vaulting. Stephenson won the Big Ten Championship for outdoor pole vaulting in 2023 and has multiple All-American titles to his name. He holds Michigan State's indoor and outdoor pole vault records.

Kate Stewart-Barnett from New Westminster, British Columbia, will participate in her first Canadian Olympic Trials for the 3000 meters steeplechase event. Stewart-Barnett won the Big Ten Championship for this event in 2023.

U.S. Olympic Trials | Eugene, Oregon:

- Fri., June 21: Decathlon Day 1 starts at 1 p.m ET/10 a.m PT; Men's Pole Vault Qualification at 8:50 p.m ET/5:50 p.m PT; Women's Triple Jump Qualification at 9:50 p.m ET/6:50 p.m PT.

- Sat., June 22: Decathlon Day 2 starts at 1 p.m ET/10 a.m PT; Women's Triple Jump Final at 9:20 p.m ET/6:20 p.m PT.

- Sun., June 23: Men's Pole Vault Final at 8:45 p.m ET/5:45 p.m PT.

- Thurs., June 27: Men's 5000 meters Round One at 11:03 p.m ET/8:03 p.m PT.

- Sun., June 30: Men's 5000 meters Final at 7:30 p.m ET/4:30 p.m PT.

Canadian Olympic Trials | Montreal, Quebec:

- Thurs., June26 : Women's Steeplechase Final at 8:10 p.m ET
