Seven Spartans earn CSC academic all-district cross country/track & field honors

Seven Michigan State track and field student-athletes have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Track & Field Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization Tuesday.

Heath Baldwin, Owen Huard, Andrew Nolan, Alexander Penski, and Aden Smith earned CSC Academic All-District honors on the men's side. Lauren Freeland and Katie Osika picked up women's Academic All-District honors.

Baldwin and Smith earned All-District honors for the second consecutive year, while Freeland and Osika also received their second-straight accolades. Baldwin, Smith, Freeland, and Osika are all finalists for All-America honors.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 GPA scale. No student-athlete is eligible until they have completed one full calendar year at their current institution and are at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Women's Track and Field/XC first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 9. The Men's Track and Field/XC first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced one day later on July 10.
