Former Michigan State standout Liv Grey has signed a professional contract with the Hub City Adelitas, an expansion team in the Women's Professional Fastpitch League (WPF). Grey will become the seventh Spartan graduate to compete professionally, joining Patti Raduenz '96, Keri Lemasters '97, Stacey Smith '97, Stacey Phillips '00, Jessica Bracamonte '14 and Ashley Miller '23.

"I'm very grateful to have been presented this opportunity to pursue 12-year-old Liv's dream," said Grey. "I could not have done this without the support of my parents and past coaches that helped guide me. I'm so excited to compete against some of the greats of our game and continue to help grow professional softball."

Grey was twice named B1G Pitcher of the Week during the 2024 campaign, becoming the third Spartan to do so all-time and the first since 2003 (Jessica Beech, 2003; Erica Strutz, 1999). In her first and only season at MSU, Grey was the staff ace pitching to the tune of a 2.41 ERA over 148.1 innings. Her 168 strikeouts ranked No. 10 all-time by a Spartan pitcher and was No. 37 in the country in 2024 in strikeouts per seven innings.

Following the conclusion of the season, Grey will return to East Lansing where she'll complete her master's degree as a graduate assistant on the Spartan softball staff.

The WPF season gets underway on June 20 when Hub City hosts the Coastal Bend Tidal Wave to kick off an eight-week regular season. Other teams in the league include Coastal Bend (Corpus Christi, Texas), Texas Smoke (Austin, Texas) and Texas Monarchs (San Marcos, Texas). Hub City is set to compete out of Lubbock, Texas in 2024. The WPF is one of three professional softball options in the country alongside Athletes Unlimited and the Association of Fastpitch Professionals.
