State Rep. Graham Filler has been commended for his unwavering support for small businesses, being one of only six Michigan legislators to maintain a 100% pro-small business voting record in 2023. The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) acknowledged Filler for his dedication to reducing the tax burden on small businesses, promoting economic growth through brownfield site redevelopment, and fostering stronger relationships between employers and employees.

In response to the recognition, Filler expressed his gratitude, stating, “On Main Streets all across Michigan, small business owners and the people they employ contribute greatly to state and local economies. I am honored to serve as a voice for the small businesses that are the lifeblood of our communities.”

SBAM President and CEO, Brian Calley, lauded Filler and the other legislators who achieved a perfect pro-small business voting record. Calley emphasized the critical role of legislative decisions in either supporting or hindering small business operations, noting, “The voting buttons in the Capitol have an immense impact on the operations of small businesses throughout Michigan and those pressing them need to have their finger on the pulse of what policies will hinder their growth and success rate.”

Moreover, Calley highlighted the importance of understanding the potential negative consequences of certain policies, stating, “While we have bipartisan recognition of many of the issues, we work on to support and grow small businesses, only a handful have a clear understanding of how punitive some of these policies are, and how much government overreach could harm them.”

Filler represents the 93rd House District, encompassing parts of Clinton, Gratiot, Ionia, Montcalm, and Saginaw counties. His consistent advocacy for small businesses has earned him praise and recognition within the community and among his peers.
