Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools Education: 658 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 658 students enrolled in Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.8% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.5% of them were boys, and 46.5% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 93.6% of the Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools total enrollment.

Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools covers two schools within Clinton County with its main office in Westphalia. Among them, Pewamo-Westphalia Middle/High School recorded the highest enrollment of 468 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
