DPW Storm Response Update (2/22/23, 5 p.m.): Two East Lansing Department of Public Works (DPW) crews (streets and parks divisions) are currently on shift and will continue to work around the clock until midnight to clear ice and snow from the City of East Lansing’s streets and sidewalks. The crews are currently focusing on trunklines, major streets, hills, stops, downtown sidewalks and City facilities.
An additional streets crew will be brought in at midnight to relieve the current streets crew and an additional parks crew will be coming in at 3:30 a.m.
Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution and, if possible, to avoid driving. As temperatures continue to drop today, road conditions will get worse and more difficult to maintain. Additionally, community members are encouraged to avoid parking on streets during the storm to accommodate DPW’s snow and ice removal operations. Overnight parking on streets is suspended tonight, Feb. 22.
