On February 23, kids and their families are invited to come learn about the quilt art of Gee’s Bend! Boykin, Alabama - better known as Gee’s Bend - is home to a largely African American community who created quilts out of necessity, but whose artistry has since been recognized as innovative. These treasured works of fine art are now on display in museums across the US. At our event, we’ll learn more about the history of the quilt art of Gee’s Bend, and create some art inspired by what we learn. More info at elpl.org.
