Charlotte Public Schools issued the following announcement on Feb 22.
Chandler was selected from an applicant pool that included over 10,000 young musicians from the United States and Europe
On February 5th, Charlotte High School junior percussionist, Colin Chandler, made his Carnegie Hall debut with the WorldStrides High School Honor Band in New York City.
Chandler auditioned for the group by sending in recordings of himself performing. He was selected from an applicant pool that included over 10,000 young musicians from the United States and Europe. “It was amazing!” Chandler said, “the acoustics in Carnegie Hall are so great!” When asked what his favorite piece was to perform with the group, he answered “Danse Diabolique - the woodwinds and everything were so intense.” Colin performed on timpani and assorted small instruments while with the group. Colin Chandler was the snare drum squad leader this year with the Charlotte High School Marching Band and is a member of the CHS Symphony Band percussion section. Congratulations Colin!
