Michigan State redshirt senior Rayvon Foley had a big week on the wrestling mats and was named the Big Ten Wrester of the Week.

Foley, who weighs 133 pounds, had a 6-2 win over No. 8 Chris Cannon of Northwestern University, the Spartans reported in a release on Feb. 16. He had takedowns in the first and second periods and had a riding time of 3:49 thanks to a big third period where he maintained control.

Foley then got a win in his hometown of Ann Arbor, where he came from behind to beat No. 7 Dylan Ragusin of No. 3 University of Michigan, the Spartans reported. He was down 2-0 in the first period but had a pair of escapes before takedowns in the second and third. Along with his riding time bonus, Foley won 7-2.

"Foley is now at a team-best 24-2 overall record with individual crowns at the Navy Classic and Southern Scuffle, going 12-1 in duals and having won five-straight matches," the Spartans reported. "The 133-pounder is also 4-2 against ranked opponents this season and is second on the team with six major decisions."

The Spartans now have had two Big Ten Wrestlers of the Week this season, the school reported. Cameron Caffey, a 197-pound redshirt senior, took the honor in January. This is the first time since 2006-07 that MSU earned dual Big Ten Wrestler of the Week awards in a season. That season, Nick Simmons nabbed the award both times. It is also the first time since 2005-07 that MSU has had more than one wrestler achieve weekly conference honors in one season.
