Charlotte Performing Arts Center presents The Most Epic Birthday Party Ever!

Zach

Charlotte Public Schools issued the following announcement on Jan 19.

Performances will take place Friday, February 4 through Sunday, February 6

The Charlotte Performing Arts Center is pleased to present its first onstage youth musical in two years.  The Most Epic Birthday Party Ever will be performed by 29 area youth on February 4, 5, & 6, 2022.  The group has been rehearsing since mid-December under the direction of Hollie Auten, director, and Zach Everly, Music Director and director of CPS Choirs.

The Performing Arts Center is back in full swing this season with live performances after a nearly 18 month hiatus. Resuming youth programs was a priority for Hollie Auten, CPAC Supervisor and the director of The Most Epic Birthday Party Ever. “It is exciting to have the kids back onstage again, after producing a virtual show last year!” says Auten.  “The show has many fun and interesting characters, and will surely entertain the entire family!”  The Arts for Youth Onstage Experience was the second youth program to return in person, the first being the 2021 Summer Musical Theatre Camp.  Auten hopes to resume the live, professional Arts for Youth programs, for schools to attend, during the 2022-2023 school year.

The Most Epic Birthday Party Ever is a musical about Skyler, who is about to turn 12, and has planned the biggest celebration of the year. In the middle of the party, something mysterious happens – all the adults suddenly vanish! Trapped in the backyard, the kids realize they must create a brand new society. However when they elect Skyler’s older brother, Charlie, as their ruler, things really begin to spin out of control. Eventually the kids learn a big lesson in responsibility, while Skyler and Charlie develop a greater respect for one another.

Performances of The Most Epic Birthday Party Ever will take place on Friday, February 4 & Saturday, February 5 at 7:00 PM, and Sunday, February 6 at 3:00 PM.  Advance tickets are $10.00 for Adults and $8.00 for Students & Seniors (62+).  All tickets are $12.00 at the door on performance days.  Tickets are available from the CPAC Box Office in person or by phone at 517-541-5690 OR online at www.charlotteperformingartscenter.com.
