Charlotte Public Schools issued the following announcement on Oct 18.
Featuring a talented cast of students, this musical will surely entertain audiences of all ages
Students in the Charlotte High School Drama program have been hard at work rehearsing and working behind the scenes for their upcoming musical: You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. Featuring a talented cast of 19 CHS students, plus an additional 20 working behind the scenes in the pit orchestra or stage crew, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown will surely entertain audiences of all ages! Performances are November 5 - 7, 2021. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday performances are at 3:00 PM.
Based on the characters created by Charles Schulz, the musical focuses on Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts gang as they explore life's great questions as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes, and celebrate the joy of friendship.
This year, director Hollie Auten, cast understudies to cover the 6 main roles in order to be prepared for any issues relating to COVID-19. “Last year, we had a student that ended up in quarantine the week of the performance and was unable to participate onstage” Auten said. “We were able to get creative and use Zoom to include her in the show, and it worked out great. This year, doing that would be much more difficult, so having understudies made sense.” The understudies will perform the main roles at the Saturday, November 6 3:00 PM show. They are also in the ensemble at all of the other performances.
Featured in the cast are Boeden Boyer (Charlie Brown/Shermy), Andrew Thielen (Shermy/Charlie Brown Understudy), Abigail Bauer (Lucy/Eudora), Caydence Freeman (Eudora/Lucy Understudy), Charlee Bahr (Schroeder/Rerun), Sullavyn Oswald (Rerun/Schroeder Understudy), Hillary Davis (Sally/Emily), Carley Worden (Emily/Sally Understudy), Evan Wendorf (Linus/Pigpen), Jasmine Smitko (Pigpen/Linus Understudy), Stanley Bullard (Snoopy), Abigail Rickerd (Woodstock/Snoopy Understudy), Avery Ellis (Peppermint Patty/Ensemble), Abby McCune (Maynard/Ensemble), Sara Lester (Violet Gray/Ensemble), Lakota Lance (Marcie/Ensemble), Lyndi Carrero (Frieda/Ensemble), McKayla Hankins (Lila/Ensemble), and Hannah Whiting (Charlotte Braun/Ensemble).
