PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE - Zoning Board of Appeals

City of East Tawas issued the following announcement on Oct 18.

The East Tawas Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in the Council Chambers of the East Tawas City Hall, 760 Newman Street, East Tawas, Michigan 48730.  Phone 989-362-6161. The purpose of the hearing is to consider two separate requests for a dimensional variance and an appeal of an administrative decision.

Charles Quarters, owner of 214 Smith Street, has requested a dimensional variance for a non-compliant shed constructed at his residence.  The shed’s location does not comply with ordinance requirements.  The property is in the High-Density Residential zoning district.

Stacy Simmons, owner of 205 Emery Street, has requested a dimensional variance to construct an addition at her residence.  The proposed addition’s location does not comply with ordinance requirements. The property is in the High-Density Residential zoning district.

Tawas Chamber of Commerce, owner of 228 Newman Street, has requested a public hearing to appeal the administrative decision of the Zoning Administrator regarding a violation letter issued on September 29, 2020 to remove or relocate a non-compliant accessory building. The property is located the Central Business zoning district.

Written comments may be sent to the City of East Tawas, Zoning Board of Appeals, 760 Newman Street, East Tawas, Michigan 48730 and must be received by 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
