Charlotte Public Schools issued the following announcement on Oct 14.
First-annual Flamingo Fest was held in honor of the late Marsha Waymire, a cherished and dedicated CPS teacher
On October 8th, Washington Elementary celebrated the first annual Marsha Waymire Fall Flamingo Fest in memory of a cherished and dedicated teacher. Marsha Waymire was a first-grade teacher at Washington Elementary who loved her students, great books, and flamingos! Marsha passed unexpectedly last year, but left Washington students and staff with memories of her laughter, her passion for education, and how to spread cheer.
Students and staff wore pink, engaged in an array of flamingo-themed activities, and of course, took time to read! Each year, we hope to celebrate Marsha’s spirit and all she gave to us. Washington Elementary would also like to extend our deepest thanks to Emma and David Waymire, Marsha’s daughter and husband, for their generosity and continued support of our students through the Marsha Waymire Foundation.
