City of Mason issued the following announcement on Aug 10.
"Twenty years ago today forever changed the face of the Mason Fire Department with the untimely death of our Chief, James Pelton. Jim proudly served on the department for 37 years starting in 1964 and becoming the first full time chief. Jim served as chief for nine years until his death. He was a great leader of the department and in the community. I am proud to have served under him and to have him as a mentor and friend. Please take a minute to read the attachment and reflect on a great man. Keep the Pelton family in your thoughts as you go about your day." - Chief Minshall
