Please note that this is not an all-encompassing list of assistance/resources that might be available to residents. This webpage will be updated as new funding assistance programs become available or known.

East Lansing COVID-19 Emergency Rental, Mortgage and Utilities Assistance

The City of East Lansing has allocated CDBG-CV funds to provide emergency support to income eligible East Lansing residents experiencing hardships as a result of the pandemic. Applicants can receive up to $7,000 in grant support over a period of up to six consecutive months for past due rent or mortgage payments and up to $3,000 in grant support over a period of up to six consecutive months for past due utility payments. This program is being administered by Capital Area Housing Partnership (CAHP). Visit the CAHP website to learn more.

MSHDA COVID-19 Emergency Rental & Utility Assistance

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority has funds available to provide tenants facing pandemic-related hardships with emergency rental and utility assistance. Visit MSHDA's CERA webpage to learn more.

Filing for Unemployment and Federal CARES Act Unemployment Benefit Programs

Community members can visit the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity website for information on how to file for unemployment and updates on the federal CARES Act unemployment benefit programs.

MI Bridges Program

Community members can visit the MI Bridges webpage to apply for food assistance, health care coverage, child development and care costs, WIC, cash assistance for basic needs and state emergency relief.
