Charlotte Public Schools issued the following announcement on July 15.
The August 2 performance features Jeff Carr as Willie Nelson with opening band Tommy Vale & The Torpedos
The Charlotte Performing Arts Center is excited to kick off our 2021-22 Season with The Red Headed Stranger Revisited featuring Jeff Carr as Willie Nelson on Monday, August 2 at 7:00 pm. Jeff Carr began his musical career at the tender age of 15, playing bass guitar in his father’s band “The Drug Store Cowboys." It was Jeff’s dad that began to notice that Jeff sounded like Willie Nelson when he sang. It was also his dad who encouraged him to learn more Willie Nelson songs to sing at their shows. Jeff soon began to truly shine in the spotlight, especially when he performed Willie’s material. Jeff spent every spare moment he had playing any and every club and show, everywhere he could, perfecting the outlaw country style of Willie Nelson and it has truly paid off!
Opening for, and backing up Jeff Carr, is Michigan favorite Tommy Vale & the Torpedos. They will be performing a patriotic set, saluting our Veterans. Vale’s group is always a crowd favorite in Charlotte, and they will be performing, as part of their set, a song written by Vale as the anthem for the United States Space Force entitled “Space, Air, Land & Sea.”
The Charlotte Performing Arts Center is currently operating at full capacity, barring any new restrictions that are announced between now at August 2. Tickets for The Red Headed Stranger Revisited are $15.00 in advance, and $20.00 at the door and can be purchased online at charlotteperformingartscenter.com. Summer box Office hours are 9:00 am – Noon, Tuesday through Thursday, for those making purchases by phone (517-541-5690) or in person.
