Democratic House Candidate Angela Witwer has won the race for House District 71, defeating Republican challenger Gina Johnsen.

Witwer expressed gratitude in a statement posted on her Facebook page on Nov. 4.

“Thank you for your overwhelming support. It has been rewarding and awe-inspiring to have been invited to your porches and lives to talk about our common issues and goals. Our grassroots efforts as a campaign helped us retain this seat. I will continue to work hard as your State Representative and fight for issues in our district and state that are important to you. I will continue to put people over politics and work for YOU. A special thank you to my daughter and campaign manager, Danielle Lenz, field director, Chelsea, Sophia, Steve and all of the amazing volunteers who came out to help with my re-election. Now, it's time to get to work!”
