LANSING COMMUNITY COLLEGE: LCC Board of Trustees unveils conference room honoring Dr. Brent Knight

Knigh

Lansing Community College issued the following announcement.

The Arts & Sciences Building at Lansing Community College has a redesigned conference room dedicated to honoring the legacy of retiring president Dr. Brent Knight.

The reimagined space showcases in wall graphics and display boxes his expansive career and outstanding contributions made at LCC and in the greater Lansing community. It pays homage to his mother, his upbringing, and details his unwavering focus on student success and placemaking over the course of a distinguished career in higher education.

"I was surprised, delighted, and touched by the honor," Dr. Knight said. "It was a wonderful surprise that I will always cherish."

The conference room details his published works, board/committee service, and awards. It proudly displays the many art and sculpture projects, building improvements and campus enhancements that have happened since his first presidency at Triton College in River Grove, IL.

"I am glad the Board of Trustees did something like this to create a lasting legacy and remembrance of all the things Dr. Knight did as president of LCC," said Trustee Larry Meyer. "The location is phenomenal."

The new Knight Conference Room is on the second floor and overlooks the stunning, 40-foot-tall "Upward Bound" sculpture at the heart of campus. The conference room also includes a miniature replica of "in Finite Space," the multicolored hanging artwork in LCC's StarZone.

Dr. Knight retires July 17 after more than a decade as LCC's sixth president.
