State Rep. Graham Filler recently announced on the Michigan House Republicans website that Michigan drivers are about to see the results of a massive car insurance reform.

Filler commented on the new law June 30 after it was passed; it has gone into effect as of July 1.

"People in Michigan will finally have the opportunity to choose the level of car insurance coverage that best fits their needs and budget -- just like they have always been able to do with their health, home and life insurance policies,” Filler said in a recent statement on the Michigan House Republicans website. “All the signs we’ve seen so far show that every Michigan driver can expect to see lower rates, regardless of the coverage options they choose.”

The new law ensures the lower possible rates by giving drivers more choices. The law will provide Personal Injury Protection coverage and halt price gouging on medical services for car accident victims. Additionally, lawmakers say the new bill puts an end to fraudulent claims and increases consumer protections.
