FOIA Request to Clinton County Election Division Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As a part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Lansing Sun have requested records under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq. from the Clinton County Election Division. The request specifically seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The details we are seeking include the candidates’ first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation. Additionally, we have also requested contact information for each candidate, including their address, phone number, and email address.

Access to public records is essential for us at Lansing Sun to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
